I love it when people have an aestetic and just completely LIVE IT ALL THE WAY This blogger has created her own world and is willing to share it . It is very sweet with a capital “S”. http://fraeuleinzucker.blogspot.com/
The one and only Vaginal Creme Davis is coming to NYC and I for one am totally psyched. Not only am I going to the opening of an art show she’s in on Sunday I also may be djing at a gig she’s playing a few days later (details forthcoming). Many people may have heard that I did the artwork for Vag’s historical project band BLACK FAG and that we had a falling out as a result, while this is true we have put the past behind us and I am so excited to see her and make nice once again. Here’s info for the art show….

A friend of mine and I paused a Lifetime Movie at exactly this moment once and laughed for like an hour.
This is my unofficial trophy to that moment.

GB Jones is an artist/musician from Toronto. Her zines, drawings, music and super 8 films inspired both the “Queer zine explosion”of the 90’s and the Riot Grrrl movement as a whole, yet many people are still unaware of her breath taking talents. I was just surfing the web and found her youtube channel and was reminded that she is the original Foxy Genius.

WomenArts is compiling a list of feminist arts bloggers for their website. They are looking for women who write reviews of other people’s work or who write commentary on arts issues from a feminist perspective. They are especially interested in finding more women of color and more women who write about arts events and issues outside the U.S. If you are interested in being included in the list, please send your full name, a link to your blog and a short description of the topics you cover to Deborah Steinberg at info@WomenArts.org. www.womenarts.org

This is the former site of The 1973-75 Women’s Building in California. Ulrike Müller turned this image (and several others showing the “current” state of places formerly associated with feminism) into postcards. She is a fucking genius!!! Feminist history, fetishism, political depression, the archive as art, it’s all here!!! Check out this web based project she did that touches on some of the same issues in an even more complicated way. http://www.encore.at/retracing/index2.html

Adam and I are going to be on WFMU tonight! Set the dial to 91.1, jump off point is 11 pm
We got to this show really late and had to rush thru but I am definitely going back to spend more time. Summary- Big Color Photographs with K8 playing different characters. As far as reference points it’s way more Amy Sedaris than Cindy Sherman and even more it is a whole other thing. Only K8 can mix gender politics, theory , feminism and fashion seamlessly. September 13th-Oct 11th at Reena Spaulings Fine Art 165 Broadway.

NYC artist Amy Yao’s site is the kind where you can click around for hours and not worry about where you started or why you are there. It is like taking a hilariously smart vacation.

We all gotta start somewhere and this little actress/model probably thought she scored big when she was cast as “strawberry shortcake” by this halloween costume company. Thing is, having a patch that says “Strawberry Shortcake” DOES NOT make you into strawberry shortcake, that’s like wearing an Obama t shirt and showing up at the White house and saying “I’m the President”. I mean, seriously, no floppy hat? No lacy apron or sassy dress? This girl is probably 15 by now and totally pulls this picture out when her and her friends are getting wasted and everyone starts telling embarrassing stories and she’s like “You think that’s embarrassing, check this out….”

Women on The Waves is hands down the most successful blend of art and activism I have ever witnessed and finally someone is making a movie about them….I could write a blurb about it but it won’t be as inspiring as the trailer for the film is. Seriously check this shit out, it is beyond amazing

I gave a powerpoint presentation at Willie Mae Rock camp for Girls in Brooklyn a couple days ago and I asked the girls if feminism was considered cool or uncool these days and they were all like “It’s REALLY cool”.
Anyways above is a picture of the band from Willie Mae that I worked with http://www.myspace.com/adventuresofisabel But more importantly if you are in NY go to the Willie Mae showcase tomorrow. These shows only come around once a year and they are totally life changing and unforgettable.
